How to fix HP Printer error 49.4c02?

When all of a sudden your printer stops working in mid of a printing job then it is quite frustrating. HP Printers are technically advanced and they don’t get easily affected but sometimes they might face some technical issues and there are many reasons for such kind of errors. One such error is HP Printer error 49.4c02 which states that the print head is not placed properly. Procedure to troubleshoot the HP Printer error 49.4c02


Though errors are quite common in printers and the main reason why you face such errors is overuse. Printers have become an important part of our lives today. We need a printer to complete our daily works but sometimes we do overuse the printer and it’s the main reason why we face errors with printers. We can easily troubleshoot the error by following the below steps-


1. Delete the job queue


When there are many jobs in the queue then also you might face the error. So it is very important that once you see the error please delete all the printing jobs and start with a new printing job again. To delete the printing job you will see a print icon on your PC, right click on the same and you will see the job queue. Select all the jobs and delete it.


2. Print a test page


In this method, you will have to first switch off the printer and disconnect the USB cable that connects from the PC. After disconnecting it from PC then turn on the printer and try to print a test page. If the page prints then you can be sure that the error is because of the print job queue.




This above steps should definitely help you to fix the error but if you are still facing the same error please follow the next steps.


3. Disable advanced printing features


Sometimes due to advance printing features also you might get the error 49.4c02. You will have to disable the feature to confirm if you are facing the error because of the advance setting. To disable the feature please follow the below process-


• Click on the Windows logo printers

• Go to the printer queue

• Now left click on the printer queue and choose printing preference

• Click on the Advance option

• You will get the Document option under which you have to choose Advance Printing Feature

• Then you will have to change it disabled

The above step should definitely help you to fix the error. If this step is also not working then please follow the next step.


4. Check if you are using Franklin Gothic Book Font


In some cases, the error 49.4c02 also might come if you are using the Franklin Gothic Book Font to print a document and this error is common in HP MFP Series printers.


5. Flash and Update the firmware


To flash the printer software when connected to your computer with USB cable follow the below steps

• Switch on the printer and wait till you see Ready on the printer LCD screen

• Try to print a test page and check the firmware revision of your printer then do the following-

1. Press the down button to highlight the menu button

2. Press select

3. Again press the down button to display Print Configuration on the LCD

4. Press Select to print the page

You need to login to the HP official webpage to upgrade the printer driver. Once you have updated the same you need to switch off the printer and wait for almost 15 seconds. Then you can switch on the printer and you will see a “Ready” sign on the printer.


5. Contact the printer manufacturer
